This Summer, the Wyakin Foundation was honored to be part of something new as Idaho Farms for Vets chose us as the beneficiary of their golf tournament. We greatly enjoyed working alongside their team to create a memorable day and had the opportunity to connect with our local and regional agricultural community in support of veterans.
The tournament began with three friends sitting around their local watering hole, sharing a few beers and talking about golf tournaments they had played in and what they would do differently. From that conversation, Idaho Farms for Vets was born, with a goal of creating an event the agricultural community could rally behind.
“One thing the Ag Community believes in, and supports are our active military and veterans,” Corey Coles, of Obendorf Farms said. That shared commitment made Wyakin a natural fit for the tournament and its mission.
Corey also shared one of the highlights of partnering with Wyakin was “the active participation from the Wyakin folks as well as the support given to help us reach our goals.” He added, “It was great having a Wyakin vet, board member, and staff to get a holistic view of the operation,” giving the tournament team and golfers the opportunity to see firsthand the people and purpose behind Wyakin’s work.
We are incredibly grateful to Obendorf Farms, Industrial Ventilation, Inc., and Critty’s for choosing to invest in the veterans we serve, as well as every sponsor, golfer, volunteer, and supporter who helped make the day possible. We look forward to seeing this event continue to grow in the years ahead!
