Wyakin Awards Inaugural Volunteer Recognition

The Wyakin Foundation was proud to award the inaugural G. Clifford Gaston Volunteer-of-the-Year Award on August 2nd to its namesake, Cliff Gaston.  The award will stand as an annual tribute to a volunteer who has made a significant impact on the pursuit of Wyakin’s mission in the prior year.  All volunteerism has the potential to make a significant impact whether it be financial, programmatic, or administrative in nature; the collective impact of our volunteers is essential to our success.

The inaugural recipient, Cliff Gaston, received the award in recognition of his significant contributions in both fundraising and overall development of the organization.  Cliff’s connections throughout the community, and in grant-making circles specifically, allowed him to generate revenue to support the needs of the organization and the ardent support of its mission.  Wyakin served a record number of Warriors in 2018, an accomplishment that was largely made possibly by Cliff’s efforts.

More significantly, the annual award was named in honor of Cliff’s legacy of sustainable impact on the Wyakin mission.  In over seven years of volunteerism, Cliff has served as a Development Director, Senior Advisor, Grant Writer, and most of all a sage counsel on matters of all kinds.  His commitment to Wyakin, or more accurately his commitment to the veterans that Wyakin serves, has been steadfast.  His consistent presence in the office, at our events, and in the lives of our Warriors has made an indelible stamp on the organization, and is simply a continuation of his decorated service to our nation during the Vietnam War.
