Brigadier General Bill Shawver retired from the United States Air Force and the Idaho Air National Guard in 2013 after 38 years of service. Brig Gen Shawver held numerous positions throughout his career and was the Commander of the Idaho Air National Guard in his final assignment. Bill also served as the director of the Idaho Bureau of Homeland Security as well as the state emergency manager and homeland security advisor to Gov Otter and the Adjutant General. Additionally, Bill served as the director of Corporate Communications and Marketing for Idaho Power before being a principal and co-founder of Atlas Strategic Communications in Boise. He formally retired in 2021.
Bill has served his community by participating on numerous non-profit boards. Past service includes supporting the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Idaho, the Idaho Red Cross, the Idaho Veterans Parade, the USAF Association, and the Idaho Officers Association. Bill currently serves on the Wyakin Foundation and the Idaho Defense Alliance board.
Brig Gen Shawver enjoys spending time with his family and traveling. His favorite places to visit include Scottsdale and the Oregon Coast, and anywhere Boise State is playing. Go Broncos!
